ProLab Studio Tour
Camera Canada Pro Lab Studio Software is a Java-based application that runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X. It offers the user the ability to select a lab defined product and precisely define crops and rotations on their images within that product. The user simply chooses a folder of images and starts selecting from among your lab’s products in which to put them.
Once the desired crop is achieved, the item can be added to the current order and a new product started. Multiple image thumbnails can be dragged or double-clicked to add several images to the order quickly. Advanced features such as arbitrary rotation, auto rotate, and fit are easily selectable in multiple ways, accommodating various studio work styles and equipment. Holding crop, options, and quantity between images of the same size allow studios to quickly process sets of similar images.
The client interface offers flexibility in work methods, allowing print sizes to be selected from a hierarchical menu or tabs, and the common tools to be shown at one time or associated with their related options. Once the order is composed, the user can review the items and add any options to individual sizes, images, or the entire order, based on the lab configuration.
Options can have text, quantities, or files added to them, ensuring that a lab can offer most of their products and abilities digitally. Tiered pricing and variable identifier options allow the Client to generate order files that take advantage of lab billing systems and conventions.
The Pager
The Pager is our newest add-on module for use by the studio in the ROES Client. This powerful new tool will allow your customers to completely modify products specified by the lab – nodes can be moved, added, deleted, resized, or rotated and set to accept images, text, or backgrounds the photographer would like to add! The ability to add text colors, image opacity, drop shadows and grid constraints will give your customers the freedom to create their own unique products.
Image strokes and fill colors can be added automatically via a color scheme and size selection window. Any new products created in the Client can be stored locally for future use. The ROES Client automatically converts the new products’ attributes into job text that will be read into DP2 when the order arrives at the lab.
The Packager
The Packager allows the photographer to define their own packages from the products offered by your lab – perfect for studio, school, and sports pictures. The Packager runs as an additional floating palette space within the ROES Client. Photographers can create various package groups, then create packages by dragging products from your Catalog palette into the My Packages palette.
The package is represented as a series of concentric layouts in the layout area, with dotted lines showing where each layout’s bounds will fall. When an image is added to a package and the package is added to the order, each product in the package is added to the order. This speeds order entry for commonly offered photographer products.
The Presenter
The Presenter is a must have for studio customers to aid in sales presentations to their clients, offering side-by-side image comparison (up to 4), image sorting, rendering of products for web use.
The Presenter allows photographers to show their images to their customers as thumbnails, in a comparison mode for two or four images, and as a slide show with music. Images can be rearranged and these arrangements saved for later use, e.g. if the photographer wishes to lay out a sequence of images before their customers arrive at their studio. The Presenter is a Java application launched from within the ROES Client.
Records
This powerful new tool will allow your customers to automate the Sports, School or other mass ‘Data Sensitive’ order entry process. Records can dramatically reduce the time it takes to enter in large sports and event orders, whether used as a photographer tool or internal lab order entry for studios that continue to send in run sheets and a CD of images. Records enables users to import csv or comma-delimited files with subject data and match it with individual and group images for mass ordering.
No file to import? No problem. Records also enables users to create rows and columns with data quickly then associate that data with customer images. Once the table is verified, the powerful Auto process can automatically build ROES products with little or no user assistance. This module is billed to the lab in a Pay as You Go model, thus there is little risk to include this in your ROES portfolio.
